 refers to the arrangements of design


elements within a composition, how they
relate to each other and the overall
composition.

 refers to the arrangement of opposite


elements in a piece so as to create visual
interest. This can be done through light vs.
dark colors, rough vs. smooth textures, large
vs. small shapes, etc.
Emphasis

 The dominant part of a composition


is the one that stands out the most
or appears closest to you.

 the comparative size of elements (usually


shapes) relative to each other or the overall
composition. It can be used in a composition

color. Large bold

personal taste. There are no criteria
set for it. Therefore, the staff may
experiment freely on page makeup
until they get the pattern acceptable
