GSM/WCDMA Cell Reselection and CS
Handover&Fast Return from GSM to WCDMA
This feature enables the basic interworking between the GSM
network and the WCDMA network, realizing the benefits as
follows:
Make use of the stable GSM network to bring the seamless service in the
GSM/WCDMA combined coverage area, guaranteeing the users’ experience
without service interruption.
Make use of the repeated GSM network to share partial traffic of the WCDMA
network in the high traffic area, decreasing the construction costs in the first
phase of WCDMA network, so as to reduce the investment risk of the
operators.

GSM/LTE Cell Reselection
This feature enables the basic interworking between the GSM network
and the Long Term Evolution (LTE) network, which makes the GSM/LTE
terminal reselect from GSM to LTE, thus realizing the convergence of
GSM network and LTE network.

Cell Reselection
This feature enables the Network Assisted Cell Change (NACC) from LTE
to GSM, which reduces the receiving system information time for
GSM/LTE terminals access to the new GSM cell, and shortens the time
delay caused by cell reselection, thus improving the users’ perception
for the network quality.
Through the existing RIM procedure of NACC, the LTE cell gets the GSM
cell’s system information through RAN Information Request process,
and BSC reports the changes of the GSM cell’s system information to
the LTE cell through RAN Information Send process.
This feature requires the GSM/LTE terminal, LTE and CN to support it.
