EFFECTS OF INSUFFICIENT

COMPUTER EQUIPMENT ON
THE GRADE 11 ICT LEARNERS
BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

there are several complaints regarding the lack of sufficient school facilities,

which is a great concern nowadays at Banate National High School (BNHS). With

regards to this, certain components, like a lack of a computer, no internet connection,

and poor air quality, affect the Grade 11 ICT learners. In this study, the researcher will

provide specific suggestions on how to improve and provide sufficient school facilities.
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

1. What is the effect of insufficient computer equipment on Grade 11

learners at BNHS?

2. What challenges do Grade 11 ICT learners face with their insufficient

computer resources at BNHS?

3. Is there a significant negative effect in having insufficient computer

equipment for Grade 11 ICT learners?
HYPOTHESIS

There’s a significant negative effect of using insufficient computer equipment

on the learning of Grade 11 ICT learners.

EQUIPMENT LEARNERS
SCOPE AND DELIMITATION OF THE
STUDY

This study will focus on the effect of insufficient computer equipment on Grade 11
Information Communication Technology (ICT) learners.

This study will be conducted at Banate National High School, Banate,

Iloilo. There will be 36 participants, 18 boys and 18 girls, of Grade 11 ICT
learners, conducted within the school year 2023-2024.
DEFINITION OF TERMS

Insufficient – refers to not sufficient; lacking in what is necessary or required. (Merriam

Webster n.d).
In this study, insufficient refers to a lack of computer equipment like a computer set and
WIFI that affects the Grade 11 ICT learners.

Computer - refers to a programmable usually electronic device that can store, retrieve, and
process data. (Merriam Webster n.d).
In this study Computer refers to electronic equipment used by the Grade 11 ICT learners.

Information Communication Technology (ICT) learners - a Senior High School strand that
prepares you for a career in information and communication technology. (informatics.edu.ph
n.d).
In this study, Grade 11 Information Communication Technology (ICT) learners refers to the
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

Students. Having functional and upgraded computer equipment will improve educational
outcomes and computer skills, leading to more efficient use of computers.

School administrators. May serve as a basis for future programs regarding the effect of
sufficient computer equipment on how to a more effective learning process.
Teachers. If they are functional and upgraded computer equipment, it will provide
access to high-quality learning and consequently allows teachers to develop their teaching and
learning methods.

Future Researchers. The result of this study can be used as a reference for future
researchers.
CHAPTER II
REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE
LOCAL STUDIES

According to Garcia & Martinez (2019). inadequate computer equipment undermines

collaborative learning opportunities for Grade 11 ICT learners. In an increasingly
interconnected world where teamwork and cooperation are essential, the lack of computers
restricts students' ability to collaborate on projects, share ideas, and collectively problem-
solve. This limitation stifles the development of teamwork and communication skills vital for
success in the ICT field and beyond.
FOREIGN STUDIES

the absence of sufficient computer equipment exacerbates existing disparities among

students. Those with limited access to computers face greater obstacles in keeping pace with
their peers, widening the gap in ICT knowledge and skills. This inequality not only affects
individual students' academic performance but also perpetuates systemic inequities within the
educational system (Johnson, 2020).
CHAPTER III
METHODOLOGY
RESEARCH INSTRUMENT

The researcher will prepare a survey questionnaire with a 5-point Likert scale made
duly validated by experts.
DATA GATHERING PROCEDURES

Each questionnaire includes a letter in accordance with ethical guidelines informing

respondents that they will be selected to participate in the study. The researchers will
accommodate the selected respondents in their respective classes, distribute questionnaires, and
give the respondents 15 minutes to answer the questionnaire while the researchers are observing.
During the course of the study, the researchers will take pictures for documentation. If the
respondents are finished answering the questionnaire, the researchers will gather the collected
data.
STATISTICAL TOOLS TO BE USED

The respondents answer will be interpreted using Hedonic Scale. It is a 5 time rating
scale designed to assess the highly acceptable sensory quality; Hedonic Scales are a tried-and-
true method in consumer research to get information about preferences (Stone and
Siddel,1985).

The researchers will first get the mean of each respondents answer to each question found in
the given survey before interpreting it.
Mean is the total sum of values in a sample divided by the number of values in your
sample.(Hurley and Tenny, 2023). The mean can be computed with the arithmetic and
geometric mean methods. To get the agreement if there really effects of insufficient computer
equipment on Grade 11 ICT learners, the researchers will generally combine the respondent's
answers and interpret based on the instrument to know the overall agreement if there really
effects of insufficient computer equipment on the Grade 11 ICT learners. The
