Environmental

Protection
Olexandr Bahlay
Among the main problems of protecting the natural environment from the impact of
aviation, the following are identified:
• pollution of atmospheric air, soils, and water bodies due to emissions of harmful
substances from aircraft engines and stationary sources;
• noise pollution;
• irrational planning and organization of land use;
• negative impact on the environment during transportation of dangerous and radioactive
substances, including accidental pollution due to the use of low-quality, outdated
equipment.
The main principles of environmental protection are as follows:
• preservation and rational use of valuable natural resources;
• compliance with standards of maximum permissible levels of ecological load on
the natural environment and sanitary standards in places of construction;
• selection of nature-reserved, landscape, resort-recreational, historical-cultural
zones with the appropriate mode of their protection;
• establishment of sanitary protection zones for the protection of reservoirs, sources
of water supply and mineral waters, deposits of healing mud, sea beaches, etc.
