recently become an indispensable part of daily life.

malls. Also, millions of CCTV cameras are installed in
streets with the goal of reducing crimes, preventing
crimes, and increasing public safety.

• Based on the data provided in Tables 2 and 4, it can be


concluded that the installation of CCTV cameras in the
Barangay has been highly effective in crime prevention.
The findings from Table 2 indicate that the majority of
respondents strongly agree that CCTV surveillance has
helped deter criminal activities, identify suspects,
increase safety and security, monitor and prevent illegal
activities, and enhance crime response and investigation
in the Barangay.

• Solid waste management (SWM) is a pressing issue


worldwide, impacting both developed and developing nations
(Mishra & Tiwari, 2014). Proper SWM offers numerous
advantages for both public health and the environment.
Improved air and water quality due to fewer harmful particles
is a key benefit (Bhuller & Yuan, 2019). Effective SWM
fosters community health, sanitation, and protects people from
biohazards and physical injuries (Bhuller & Yuan, 2019). It
can also create recycling jobs and boost the economy

• Poor management of solid waste may cause health


hazards to inhabitants, environmental problems such
as water and soil contamination, air pollution and

waste management behaviors observed. Residents prefer
implementing penalties for violators and adhering to
recycling policies to enhance waste management.
Overall, the study emphasizes the importance of

behaviors to achieve sustainable waste management
practices in the community.

• Solid Waste Management (SWM) is a global challenge faced by both


developed and developing countries due to increased population and
resource consumption. It involves disposing, destroying, processing,
recycling, reusing, or controlling waste to reduce environmental
risks. Collection, monitoring, control, and disposal are key tasks.
Despite varying services, SWM is crucial for municipal functioning,
often provided by local governments through free waste pickup.
Mishra & Tiwari (2014) define solid waste as useless, unwanted, and
discarded material from various sources like agriculture,
construction, commercial activities, institutions, streets, households,
and industries.

LITERATURE

• The Philippines is an archipelagic country located in the southeast


Asia. It has a dynamic and rapid economy due to increasing
urbanization, growing middle class and it has a large and young
population (World Bank, 2020). Given this condition, solid waste
production in the Philippines also increases (Castillo & Otoma,
2013). Republic act no. 9003 (ecological solid waste management
act of 2000) defined solid waste as all discarded household,
commercial waste, non-hazardous institutional and industrial
waste, street sweepings, construction debris, agriculture waste, and
other.
