From a practical point of view, why is it important for all managers and future

managers to have a good command of human resource management concepts and


techniques?
A proper understanding of human resource management concepts and techniques is of utmost
important for the managers, because it would help them in recruiting, selecting, training,
rewarding, and retaining the employees. It is important for all the managers and future
managers to have a good command on human resource management concept and techniques
due to the following reasons:
• Good candidates are hired: The senior managers who have sound command on HR policies
and practices would hire right candidate for the right job. They can understand the
technical as well as behavioral requirements of a job and hire the deserving candidates
accordingly.
• Improved employee retention: HR management concepts and techniques would help the
managers in developing ahealthy work environment.
. It would help them in creating employee friendly policies and procedures that would
enhance the satisfaction level of employees. It would further help the managers in hiring,
recruiting, and retaining existing employees.
• Enhanced employee productivity: Managers having good command on human
resource management concepts and techniques can come up with the ways that can
improve the efficiency and effectiveness of employees. It would further in improving the
productivity of employees as well as the organization.

It is a widely acknowledged fact that the most valuable asset of any organization is its
human resource or the workforce. An organization cannot grow or have a successful
business if it does not have efficient and productive manpower and in this regard, the role
of the HR department is quite important. As the HR department has a number of practices
that are being used to motivate, inspire and sustain talented employees in the
organization, thus it is important that the manager of another department should also
understand the different strategies and philosophies, theories that are being implemented
in the HR department.
Any manager has to work with a team of certain employees and in order to fulfill the
departmental goals, it is important for that manager to motivate the team members i.e.
the manpower and inspire them and provide them all the necessary support that is required
to perform their task successfully.
