 Communism is a type of government as well as an economic system (a
way of creating and sharing wealth). In a Communist system, individual
people do not own land, factories, or machinery. Instead, the government
or the whole community owns these things. Everyone is supposed to
share the wealth that they create.
Socialism is a populist economic and political system based on
collective, common, or public ownership of the means of
production. Those means of production include the machinery,
tools, and factories used to produce goods that aim to directly
satisfy human needs.

Karl Marx was a German philosopher during the 19th
century. He worked primarily in the realm of political
philosophy and was a famous advocate for
communism.
