Sumaria Abdulali was born in 22 May 1961.

She has been referred to as India’s foremost campaigner against illegal


sand mining .

She is the founder of the NGO Awaaz Foundation .

She was co-chairman of the Conservation subcommittee and honorary


secretary of Asia’s oldest and largest environmental NGO .

She also organized volunteers group offering support on Education who was affected by
noise related problems .

She has received Mother Teresa Award and won Ashoka Fellow
Award .

She has won Green Crusader Olive Crown Award 2015.

She has received Rotary Club of Bombay ‘ Taru Laiwani A ward for
the protection of Environment ‘

Amala Ashok Ruia is an Indian Social Activist
Known for her work in Water Harvesting .

She was born in Uttar Pradesh on 1946.

She was inspired by severe droughts in 1999/2000


and 2023 to improve water harvesting in Rajasthan Village .

She was popularly known as Paani Mata [“Water Mother”]

She founded the AAKAR CHARITABLE TRUST[act].
She has contributed to the education sector for the rural people of
northern part of India.
