Introduction
In this work the SynRM drive is controlled by vector control method. This standard
drive requires two current sensors and one speed sensor for its operation. The
elimination of speed sensor from the standard drive will be a reliable and cost
effective solution. For this reason in the given work the SynRM drive is operated
without speed sensor i.e., the speed elimination scheme will be used to estimate the
speed and operate the drive speed sensorless. Artificial neural network (ANN)
based scheme for estimation of speed will be used in order to have speed sensor less
operation of SynRM under MTPA condition. This work will be carried out under
MATLAB/Simulink platform.
OBJECTIVES
1. Vector Control: Operating the machine under Vector control using Vector
based control strategy so as to maximize the energy efficiency for all operating
conditions.

2. Speed Sensorless Control: SynRM Control without physical speed sensor,

Reducing complexity and enhancing reliability. This is done by estimating speed
by ANN Technique.
