order to solve problems.

the word al-jabr (restoration of a
broken bone) which is a part of the
title of Muhammad Ibn Musa al-
Khwarizmi’s book Al Kitab Jabr
Waál Mugabelah in which he
introduced the fundamental
algebraic methods and techniques
for solving equations.

• A variable is any symbol, usually a letter, that
represents any possible values.
