Tenses

Tenses tells us how an action relates to the flow of


time.The word “Tense” comes from a Latin word
“Tempus” that means time.
Based on Time Frame :

1. Present Tense

2. Past Tense

3. Future Tense
These tenses are further
divided into:

1. Indefinite/Simple Tense
2. Continuous Tense
3. Perfect/complete Tense
4. Perfect Continuous Tense

Simple Present Tense
The simple present tense is used to
describe an action, an event or a
condition that is occurring in the past.

For example:
I play.
He plays football with me.

She plays badminton with me.

Structure:he/she/it + s/es + Verb 1st

I/we/you/they + Verb 1st

Present Continuous Tense

The Present Continuous Tense emphasis


the continuing nature of an action,event
or condition.

For example:
Sarah is writing a letter.
I am studying now.
Structure
She is playing badminton with me.

Structure:He/she/it/you/we/they +
is/am/are + verb 2nd form
