MAGNETIC

FIELD AND
MAGNETIC
FORCE
OBJECTIVES:
Define
1 the law of magnetic poles
Compute for the force and the magnetic
2
field
3
Understand the concept behind the
galvanometer, ammeter, and voltmeter
Magnetism is the ability
of magnetic material to
attract other magnetic
materials. A material
possessing this ability is
called a magnet. A
magnet may be natural
or artificial.
Law of Magnetic Poles:
“two same magnetic poles repel one another
while two opposite magnetic force attract”

a magnet can produce a magnetic field.

The force is expressed through the cross product
between the velocity and magnetic field in unit of tesla
(T) or weber per square meter:

F=qv x B or F=qvBsin
F=Ilb or F=ILBsin
MAGNETIC FIELD
The galvanometer
Is a devise which measures the current of a loop.
1.A proton moves through a uniform magnetic field of
magnitude 2.0 at a speed of 5.00 x m/s. what is the
magnitude of maximum magnetic force it can expressed?

2. An electrical power line carries a current of 1200 A in a

location where the magnetic field of the earth is 4x T. the line
makes an angle of 60 with respect to the field. Determine the
magnetic force on 100 m length of the wire.
3. An 8cm wire with a current of 2 A is oriented 36 from parallel
to a magnetic field with a strength of 6 T. What is the force on
the wire.
