 Methods of enhancing/decorating bamboo,

Woodcraft and bamboo craft can be
enhanced using a variety of methods and
techniques. These include:
1. Woodturning is a process of using a lathe
to make
various forms and shapes of wood.
2. Hand carving is considered a wood craft
in which a sharp object is used to create
designs on the wood. Various textures and
surfaces can be created using
this technique. Tools such as chip carving
knife, gouges, and chisels are used.
3. Pyrography is considered an art using a
fire or heat to decorate wood or leather.
4. Flocking is a technique that lines the
interior of drawers and boxes with a sort of
velvety finish.
5. Painting is considered the simplest way of
decorating wood with the use of variety of
colors. One may also add a lacquer finish to
make it more shiny and glossy.

Metal Craft Enhancing Techniques The
following are some techniques used to
enhance or add design elements on metal
products:
1. Engraving – is a method of transferring
a design on metal using a hardened steel
tool called burin or graver to cut into the
surface of the metal.
2. Etching – is a process used to make
designs or pictures on a metal plate by
using acid that produces corrosive action.
In modern manufacturing, strong chemicals
are used on other types of material.
3. Adding metal enhancing media - such
as metal paints, copic markers and
antiquing kits gives color to the metal
product. Metal paints may be applied using
a brush or spray.
4. Texturing and embossing – In this
technique you will need hammers, metal
stamps, stencils, and other materials to
create imprints on the metal. Though there
are new technologies used to emboss a
metal with different textures, a hammer and
nail can still be used to create your own
design.
5. Making Image transfers- though it is
not an easy technique, there are two ways
to do it. The first uses a transfer medium
called Omni gel and the other uses a
waterslide decal. With this technique,
images are transferred on the metal clearly.
6. Using Resins- resins have different uses.
It is now used together with different
materials to create wonderful craft. Resins
are usually made with powder and
chemical that produces a clear liquid. Thus,
it should be used rapidly since it hardens
and dries up easily. It may contribute to the
product’s special texture, design, and it
may act as covering to protect a design on
your metal sheet
