CHEER DANCE!

OBJECTIVES:
• Explain the background of cheer dance.
• Identify the different basic movements/steps in
cheer dancing.
• Value the importance of engaging oneself to
physical activity to lessen the risk of lifestyle
diseases.
• Applies correct techniques to minimize risk of
injuries
CHEER DANCE

skills in dance and
gymnastics.

yells and cheers, gymnastic
skills (pyramids and tosses,
stunts, tumbling skills, arm
and hand positions and jumps),

Terminologies
used in Cheer
dance
1. Flyers- these are the
cheerleaders who are
held and thrown into the
air and are doing the
stunts.
2. Bases or mounts
 These are the persons
in charge of holding
and controlling the
throw of the flyers.
3. Spots
• These are the people who
stand behind or in front of
the flyers and support of the
flyers to prevent them from
falling.

1. Groupings (3 groups only)
2. 5 minutes routine
3. Pyramids must not go beyond the chest level
4. Spotters are always required during practice and
performance
5. Music is optional
6. Create simple yell or cheers for the dance routine
7. Uniforms ( Color Coding)
8. Props and costumes are optional (Depends on the
choreography and routine)
