CRACKING THE HUNGER

PUZZLE

BACKGROUND:
• Many people in Pakistan face a complex situation, including food scarcity, economic challenges, and health concerns.

• Despite Pakistan's unique cultural fabric and plentiful resources, a sizable percentage of the population is trapped in a
loop in which inadequate financial resources prevent access to healthful food, thereby compromising overall health.

• Families frequently struggle to buy food that is both full and healthy, which leads to health difficulties.

• We want to figure out all the complicated issues so that we can create specific plans to help communities in Pakistan.
The goal is to help them escape the cycle of not having enough food, being poor, and facing health problems.
•PROBLEM STATEMENT:

•This study intends to shed

light on the multidimensional
challenges by investigating the
% population's levels of health
literacy and nutritional
knowledge, assessing the
impact of government poverty
alleviation programme.
Alarming Statistics Reflecting the Severity:

• For every 10 children born in Pakistan, one will die before the age of
five
• Close to half of all children under five are moderately or severely
stunted
• 54% of children under five are vitamin A deficient
• 62% of children are anaemic
• Some regions show up to 86% prevalence of childhood anemia
We have 4 main Objectives of this Study:
:
1) Assessing Health Literacy and Nutritional Knowledge:
Check how well people understand information about health and nutrition. See if
they know how to make healthy food choices and take care of their health.

2) Identifying Awareness and Engagement in Government Poverty

Alleviation Programs:
Find out how much people know about government programs to reduce poverty.
See how many people are actively involved in these programs.

3) Examining Economic Inequities and Their Impact on Food Security:

Look at how differences in money and resources affect whether people have
enough food. Focus on how economic inequalities make it hard for some people
to afford healthy food.

4) Investigating Agricultural Productivity's Effect on Healthy Food

Availability:
Study how well farmers are doing in producing food.
Literature Review:

Health Literacy & Nutrition:

• Smith etal. (2020) conducted a seminal study that found that those with stronger health
literacy abilities make healthier eating choices. Their findings imply that people with
high levels of health literacy are better able to interpret nutritional labels, allowing them
to decipher and choose food items that are appropriate for their dietary preferences and
health goals. food.

Economic Disparities and Food Insecurity: :

• Gomez and Johnson (2020) did a comparative examination of nations with various
economic circumstances. Their findings revealed that countries suffering economic
instability, as evidenced by inflation and economic downturns, had greater rates of
food insecurity. The study emphasises the importance of comprehensive economic
policies that address both overall income distribution and economic stability in order to
secure long-term food security.
Hypothesis:
• Integrating nutrition instruction into formal schooling can promote health and well-being, perhaps breaking the cycle of
poverty.

• Integrating health and nutrition into poverty alleviation programmes can enhance general well-being, treat health
concerns, and promote sustainable nutritional practices.

• Improving agricultural output can improve access to various and healthy food options in
local markets, as there is sometimes a lack of nutritious options available.
