SASVAB

Student Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery


WHAT IS THE SASVAB?
• Test used to identify whether a student is qualified to enlist into a branch of the U.S.
Military.
• Used to determine which military jobs (MOS) a student is best suited for.
• Scores affect the type of military job or enlistment bonuses a student is eligible for.

• Assembling Objects (AO)
HOW SCORES ARE EVALUATED
• Scores are represented as percentiles in the range 1 to 99.
• Score indicate how a student’s score compared to a reference group of test takers.
• For example, if a student scores a 65, their score is higher than 65% of test takers in the
reference sample group.
• Army requirements
• 31
• 21-30 for FLRI or 09M program
• 09M only available right now to Grads
MATHEMATICS KNOWLEDGE
• Tests knowledge of algebra, geometry, fractions and percentages.
• 25 questions
• No calculators
FRACTIONS
Numerator 1
Demonator 3 means 1 divided by 3 or 0.333
REDUCING FRACTIONS
• Sometimes fractions can be reduced if the numerator and denominator have a common
factor
• For example: 2 can be reduced to 1 because the common factor of 2

• For example:
• Solve for x: x + 25 = 33
• Must know inverse operations
• Whatever you do to one side of the equation you must do on the other side
• Inverse of addition is subtraction
• Inverse of subtraction is addition
• Inverse of multiplication is division
• Inverse of division is multiplication
