No Pre-Existing Environment

- NO old infrastructure
- Planning would be ideal to do in co-operation with end user’s IT personnel

- No old data to convert, or to carry on with the new

- No old, outdated computers, which were just fine five years ago…
- EASY, everything is going to be built from the beginning, just needed to buy
and set up bunch of computers according to the specifications
- However, plenty of planning is needed
- How many SCANORA client licenses needed?
- Single user or networked OnDemand?
- Other SOREDEX modalities?
- DICOM?
- Data backup?

Existing DIGORA® for Windows User 1

- End user is comfortable with existing DIGORA® for Windows and wants/needs
to continue using it

- SCANORA ® Workstation software is used for capturing images from

CRANEX® 3D and for storing the images. 2D images are exported to DIGORA®
for Windows for viewing, using the DfW Exporter button. Other SOREDEX
modalities are used with DIGORA® for Windows
- Existing computer hardware must meet the new requirements
- PMS Interface and DfW Exporter can be found SCANORA ®
installation CD

- Not the ideal solution. Image calibration is difficult, since the actual image size is
not known.

Existing DIGORA® for Windows User 2

- Existing DIGORA® for Windows user with existing data from other SOREDEX
modalities than CRANEX® 3D

- Existing database from DIGORA® for Windows is going to be converted, and

DIGORA® for Windows is not used after that. The other modalites are going to be
used with SCANORA from now on
- All SOREDEX devices are supported with SCANORA® (FMX is an exception)
- SCANORA® installation CD contains tools to convert DfW database to Scanora
- DfW 2.9 Client or Single user is needed for the conversion
- Plenty of free hard drive space is needed if the conversion is done locally in one
computer (3x the size of old DfW database +images)
- Lots of time is needed for the conversion, 30 Gb database might take 10 h

folder on the Server PC. In Windows 7 run the file
with “Run as administrator” option.

Enter the administrator user and password in the

Database restore
Restoring SCANORA database from the backup

NOTE! This procedure overwrites any existing patient data

stored in the SCANORA database.
NOTE! This procedure does not restore users and creates
default users. Use SCANORA Manager to recreate users.

1. Make sure that all users have been logged off the
SCANORA database (restore does not succeed if the
database is in use) e.g. sure that "PaloDEx 3D
Reconstruction Service" and "SCANORA Database
Backup Service" are not running.

2. Restore the image directory (e.g. C:\SCANORADATA)

from
the backup, INCLUDE ALL CONTENTS!

3. Run ImportDB.bat (located in the Tools folder).

In Windows7 run file in command line opened with
"Run as administrator".

4. Enter the administrator password in the command-line

Modifying stand-alone installation to a network
(server) version

• can be done either from ControlPanel – Programs and Features – Change or

• By modifying the ODBC connection

Modification by changing the installation uninstalls the database but ODBC modification leaves the
database installed, it’s just not used.
Modifying stand-alone installation to a network
(server) version by ODBC modification
Open Control Panel / Administrative tools / Data Sources
(ODBC). Select System DSN
NOTE! On 64-bit Windows you must use the 32-bit version of
ODBC Administrator Tool when configuring the ODBC
connection. Instead of using Control Panel – Administrative
Tools – Data Sources (ODBC) use the following executable: \
Windows\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe.

If the Server entry is empty, click the arrow locating in the right
side of the server name field. A list of available databases is
displayed. Opening the list may take some time depending on
the size of the network.

The SCANORA database is displayed in the form

Computername\SCANORA. Select the proper server with \
SCANORA extension. Select Next.

Type in the Login ID (admin) and Password (admin). Select Next

and Finish in the following dialogs. An ODBC Microsoft SQL
