Cast Iron Counterweight (May be
replaced with pure iron or another
metal in a later adaption due to its
availably as sheet metal compared
to cast iron, and pure iron is
heavier).
New door with an improved
snapping/latching design to keep
the door closed
Holes in Acrylic for a lighter
weight design.
Model Descriptions
Compatibility with the MakerBot Replicator {bed size: 11.6" x 6.5" height = 7.6"}
- Door must be reduced or segmented, and PLA hinge/connection must also be segmented.
Replace Cast Iron with a more accessible material (Pure Iron is denser than Cast Iron)
- Cast Iron = .260
- Pure Iron = .284
- Mild Steel = .284
- Brass = .307 - .318
Note the expense and accessibility of the above materials when choosing a material for the final design.
Ensure the Bottom Clamp is compatible with the desk size during the design process.
Notable Questions:
Is there machinery available in which can create a 90* bend in ½" [Metal] sheets?
Is the laser cutter capable of cutting ½" [Metal] sheets?
