INTRODUCTION TO THE DOMAIN
ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
• Artificial intelligence has occupied its own space in every field of Science and
Technology.
• Artificial intelligence (AI) is a set of technologies that enable computers to
perform a variety of advanced functions, including the ability to see, understand
and translate spoken and written language, analyze data, make recommendations,
and more.
• It also encompasses sub-fields of machine learning and deep learning.
• One of the biggest advantages of Artificial Intelligence is that it can significantly reduce errors
and increase accuracy and precision.
• The decisions taken by AI in every step are decided by information previously gathered and a
certain set of algorithms. When programmed properly, these errors can be reduced to null.
• Healthcare is one of the major domains where the impact of AI is huge.A very simple example
of the implementation of artificial intelligence in health care is the fit band or an iWatch.
• With AI, we are able to process and analyze vast amounts of data quickly, making it
easier to find and access the information we need
WHY AI DISRUPTIVE
• Object recognition is a computer vision technique for identifying objects in images or videos.
• Object recognition is a key output of deep learning and machine learning algorithms.
• When humans look at a photograph or watch a video, we can readily spot people, objects,
scenes, and visual details.
• Popular algorithms used to perform object detection include convolutional neural networks
(R-CNN, Region-Based Convolutional Neural Networks), Fast R-CNN, and YOLO (You
Only Look Once).
• The R-CNNs are in the R-CNN family, while YOLO is part of the single-shot detector family.
• Video Object Detection (VOD) mimics the human visual cortex. It allows
machines to analyze video frame by frame and identify the objects present within
them.
• Thus, object detection in video works similarly to AI image recognition.
• The main goal of object detection is to scan digital images or real-life scenarios to
locate instances of every object, separate them, and analyze their necessary
features for real-time predictions.
