CHILD LABOUR
INTRODUCTION
Child labour use of the child as worker in
factories, farms and mines.
The practice which deprives children of
their childhood and is harmful to their
physical and mental development.
The wage labour of under age persons, that
is, those who are not old enough to be fully
capable of work.
WHAT IS CHILD LABOUR
Child Labour refers to the employment of children
in any work that deprives children of their
childhood. It may interfere with their ability to
attend regular school. It is mentally, physically,
socially or morally dangerous and harmful.
EFFECTS OF CHILD LABOUR
Makes children suffer from
physical and mental torture.
Deprives children of proper
childhood.
SOLUTIONS TO SOLVE CHILD
LABOUR
EDUCATIONAL: Studies show time and time
again that providing free and good quality education
to all children around the world helps to reduce the
incidence of child labor.

LAW: Bringing in laws that makes it illegal for

children to work until they reach a certain age makes
it much easier to combat a culture of child labor.
CAUSES OF CHILD LABOUR

 POVERTY - Families struggling financially turn to child labor as a

source of income to meet basic needs.
 EDUCATION ACCESSIBILITY - Poor access to quality education,
especially in rural areas, increases the likelihood of child labor.
 LIMITED GOVERNMENT SUPPORT - Insufficient
government investment in education and child protection
programs can worsen child labor issues.
 FAMILY SIZE - Large families may require multiple children
to work to provide sufficient income.
CHILD LABOUR STATISTICS IN
PHILIPPINES
WHY CHILD LABOUR SHOULD BE
STOPPED?
Child labor harms a child's social and
mental development, reduces their ability to
enjoy childhood, and limits educational
opportunities. Without an education,
children grow up without the skills they
need to secure employment, making it more
likely that they send their own children to
work someday.
WHERE DOES MOST CHILD LABOUR
OCCUR?
 Sub-Saharan Africa has the highest number of
child laborers at 86.6 million children, followed
by Central and Southern Asia with 26.3 million.
June 12 marks the United Nations–sanctioned
World Day Against Child labour a time to reflect
on young workers deprived of their childhood,
education, and a rightful future.
WHAT IS REPUBLIC ACT 7610

 known as the "Special Protection of

Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and
Discrimination Act," is a critical piece of
legislation in the Philippines that addresses
child protection, including cases of minor
physical abuse.
