HUMAN AND CULTURE GEOGRAPHY OF AUSTRLIA.
HUMAN GEOGRAPHY OF AUSTRALIA

• Australia's mean population density is 3.3/km2, one of the lowest in the world. Sport plays
an important social and cultural role in Australia with more than 90% of adults having an
interest in sport. English is the most common language in Australia. If there's one thing
Aussies are known for, it's their easy-going, friendly attitude. Of course food, events,
art and history are all vital parts of the Australian culture, but what really distinguishes an
Aussie is his or her laid-back outlook on life. It’s the way friends turn up unannounced for
a catch-up (but always with a six-pack of beer in hand). It’s the reason you’ll hear the
words “no worries, mate” exchanged between strangers on the street. Most of all, it’s about
putting aside stress to appreciate the good things in life that are right in front of you.
CULTURE GEOGRAPHY OF AUSTRALIA

• The culture of Australia is primarily a Western culture, originally derived from Britain but also
influenced by the unique geography of Australia and the cultural input of Aboriginal, Torres Strait
Islander and other Australian people. The culture of Australia is primarily a Western culture,
originally derived from Britain but also influenced by the unique geography of Australia and the
cultural input of Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and other Australian people. The British
colonisation of Australia began in 1788, and waves of multi-ethnic migration followed.
Evidence of a significant Anglo-Celtic heritage includes the predominance of the
English language, the existence of a democratic system of government drawing upon the
British traditions of Westminster government, parliamentarianism and constitutional monarchy,
American constitutionalist and federalist traditions, and Christianity as the dominant religion.
SUMMARY

• Australia is one of the world's most ethnically diverse nations. Nearly a quarter of the
people who live in Australia were born in other countries. They come from the United
Kingdom and other European countries, but also from China, Vietnam, North Africa, and
the Middle East. Australia is a stable, democratic and culturally diverse nation with a
highly skilled workforce and one of the strongest performing economies in the world.
With spectacular landscapes and a rich ancient culture, Australia is a land like no other.
