AND JAPANESE RULE
Japanese dominance

On January 2, 1942, Japan seized control of the whole Manila


region. Following the invasion, General Masaharu Homma, the
Supreme Commander of the Japanese Imperial Army in the
Philippines, quickly announced their policies. He states that a
Director-General will be in charge of the Military Government of
Japan. He will watch the entire invasion and takeover of the entire
nation. General Homma proclaimed the termination of American
authority over the whole Philippines.
On January 2, 1942, Japan seized control of the whole Manila region.

Commander of the Japanese Imperial Army in the Philippines, quickly
announced their policies. He states that a Director-General will be in
charge of the Military Government of Japan. A new administration was
rapidly formed in the Philippines by the Japanese military power through
the use of a preexisting "Council of State," which oversaw civilian
matters. The Japanese pledged independence for the islands after
"liberating" the Philippines, and in October 1943 the Republic of the
Philippines was established.

The Japanese Imperial Army implemented a


totalitarian government in the entire country. They
suspended the Democratic Government established
by the Americans. They removed and suspended
our freedom and stripped the Filipinos against their
rights such as:
 The right to live in a free world and the right for education

 The right to equal trial wherein an accused is presume innocent

until proven guilty

 The right for free-press

 The right to conduct a free assembly to air their grievances

 The right to freely travel to any destination

 And the right to choose the leaders of their community
