The buddy system is a program in which students
initially worked in pairs. Reading is one of the four skills that
students should learn and care of. Skimming and scanning
are very useful for students to find specific information to get
answers from the questions in the assignment or exam and
minimize their time to answer the questions in the text.
Understanding text is one of the problems students face
while reading. Due to these reasons, the researcher opts to
investigate the effect of Buddy System Strategy and its Role
in Mastering Scanning and Skimming Techniques in Reading
Comprehension of Grade 6 Students in Selected Public
Schools in Iligan City.
Purpose of the Study/Sop
These study generally aims to identify the effectiveness of buddy system strategy and its role in
mastering scanning and skimming techniques in reading to grade 6 students in selected public schools in
Iligan City. Specifically, this research aims to answer the following questions.

1. What is the demographic profile of the students in terms of:


- sex/ monthly income/ hobby/ learning style

2. What are the factors affecting the effectiveness of buddy system strategy and its role in mastering
scanning and skimming techniques in reading to grade 6 students in selected public schools in Iligan City in
terms of:
- behavior/ intelligence/ belief/ value

3. What are the challenges encountered by the respondents in using the buddy system strategy in mastering
scanning and skimming techniques in reading in terms of:
- Language differences, communication style, level of expertise, and background

4. What is the effectiveness of buddy system strategy and its role in mastering scanning and skimming
techniques in reading to grade 6 students in selected schools in Iligan City?
