consequences. Due to illiteracy and lack of
awareness their fears are more difficult to deal.
3. Fear of stigma & discrimination, fear of
reactions of significant others, fear of future, fear
of disfigurement.
The need for educational counseling to the
leprosy-affected is due to the followings
Misconceptions regarding the infectivity,
inadequate knowledge about the disease, beliefs
about the disease
Precautionary measures
Clofazimine: Common Side Effects: Constipation, diarrhea, heartburn,
indigestion, loss of appetite, nausea, stomach pain
Precautionary Measures: Take clofazimine with meals, follow the prescribed
dosage, and continue treatment for the full duration as advised by the
doctor to ensure complete recovery and prevent the return of symptoms

Rifampicin:Common Side Effects: Fever, acute renal failure


Precautionary Measures: Monitor for signs of fever and renal function
regularly during treatment with rifampicin. Report any unusual symptoms to
the healthcare provider promptly for appropriate management

Dapsone:Common Side Effects: Methemoglobinemia, hemolytic anemia,


skin reactions, gastrointestinal disturbances
Precautionary Measures: Patients with glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase
deficiency should be monitored for signs of hemolysis. Regular monitoring
for methemoglobinemia and skin reactions is essential. Any symptoms
should be reported to the healthcare provider for evaluation and
management
