 General Description
A large much branched shrub, fleshy, green and jointed with 3-5 wings
 Branches rounded, circular with spines. Milky juice is secreted through it.
Leaves small, converted into spines.
Flowers (in rains) in 3 flowered cymes, with central flower.

 Toxic Signs and Symptoms:
Route of poisoning through skin, gastro intestinal poisoning.
If juice is applied to skin it leads to vesication.
If instilled to the eyes lead to leads to severe conjunctives and loss of eyesight.
If taken internally symptoms include vomiting, diarrhoea, convulsions and
coma.

Externally : Application of tamarind macerated in water.
Internally : Cold water with sugar
Buffalo’s milk with sugar
Mouthik kamadudha
Modern science : No specific antidote.
Symptomatic treatment.

Juice is used for criminal abortion
Homicide rarely
Juice is applied to the eyes and the genitals as a punishment for adultery.
