Annulus volume (open hole 2945 ft)

12^ -6.5^ * 436 / 1029.4 = 43 BBL. Open hole – drill collar

12^- 5.5^ * 2509/ 1029.4 = 277 BBL. open hole – HWDP+DP

Annuls volume cased hole

8.435^ - 5.5^ * 9940 / 1029.5 = 395 BBL.

Annulus volume = 43+277+395 = 715 BBL.

String volume

Drill collar = 2.875^* 436 (length DC)/ 1029.4= 3.5 BBL.

HWDP= 3.25^ * 182/ 1029.4= 1.85 bbl.

Drill pipe = 4.67^ * 12267 / 1029.4= 259 BBL.

String volume = 259+ 1.85+ 3.5= 264 BBL.

Total volume = 715+ 264= 979 BBL, 11940 strokes

Wash out hole calculation
When we pump hi vis or any color or material indicator reset strokes and should come with your
calculation for total volume strokes (inside string and annulus).

If come more than that means hole become larger you must calculate the extra strokes.

Suppose you have 500 strokes more, the indicator came at shaker in 12440 strokes., then you can
convert this to minute and apply in architecture, for open hole length.

For example: 500 strokes / SPM (145) = 3.44 Minute. Then apply in GN4 system, it will give you the
result of hole ID.

Or you can calculate as following: you have the lag difference in minute (3.44), GPM= 500.

Then just convert GPM to barrel per minute divide by 42 = 11.9 bbl/min.

So, in one minute we have 11.9 bbl, how many barrels will correspond 3.44 min.

The extra volume = 11.9* 3.44= 40.936 BBL.

Or just multiply strokes * pop = 500*0.0820= 40.9 BBL
Then how we can calculate the hole enlargement manually:

Hole diameter^ = volume * 1029.4/ open hole (2945 ft) =411 bbl + 40 bbl *1029.4/2945 ft= the
result then takes square roots. Add the result to the hole size.

Note: here ignore drill string displace in open hole, conclude the all open hole volume +
the extra volume
The open hole volume for 12"-hole length (2945 ft) = 12^ *2945/1029.4= 411.9 bbl

The actual volume now = 411.9+ 40 (extra)= 451.9 bbl

Hole diameter^ = 451.9 * 1029.4/ open hole (2945 ft) = 157.95, then square roots
= 12.5"

Hole size now = 12.5"
