Alikhan Bukeikhanov

Biography
Bokeikhanov Alikhan Nurmukhameduly (1870-1937) - an outstanding public and
statesman, scientist, theoretical founder and leader of the national liberation
movement, organizer of the first Kazakh political party and chairman of the
government of Alashorda. He was born in the village of Tokyraun Bolus, Karkaraly
district of the former Semipalatinsk region, now Aktogay district of the Karaganda
region. The family line was descended from Genghis Khan's eldest son Joshi. His
great-grandfather is the famous Kokzhal Barak. Bokey Khan, one of the last Kazakh
khans, was the son of this Kokzhal Barak. Batyr is from Bokey, from him is
Myrzatai, from him is Alikhan’s father Nurmukhamed.

In 2009-2013, A. A 9-volume
collection of the complete works of
Bukeikhan was published. In 2011,
on the occasion of the 145th
anniversary of his birth, a complete
collection of the 15-volume works of
Alikhan Bukeikhan was published.
This includes articles, essays, letters,
personal documents, political satires,
scientific and literary translations,
etc. included. Publication continued
until 2011-2018.

• The great dream of the
leaders of Alash, led by
Alikhan Bokeikhanov, was
the creation of the
Kazakh state. In July
1917, at the first All-
Kazakh Congress in
Orenburg, the national
political party Alash was
legalized. This was a key
step towards the creation
of the Alash government
• Alikhan proved himself
during the First Russian
Revolution. Before that, he
was widely known as a
great scientist, an expert
on earthly problems. At a
time when many meetings
were taking place at the
pace of the 1st revolution,
Bukeikhanov took an
active part in them.

• 23-year-old Alikhan
complains about the low
culture of Kazakh society of
that time, the lack of human
manners and morals. He
believes that mass illiteracy
of the people, inter-tribal
struggle for power, hostage-
taking, merciless oppression
of the poor and weak by the
rich and powerful have
become widespread.

• Alikhan Bukeikhan followed a truly democratic path. He,
who knew real politics as well as he knew, understood that
his country would have no future as part of the Russian
Federative Parliamentary Republic.

 Among the figures of the Alash party are such as Alikhan
Bokeikhan, Akhmet Baitursynuly, Mirzhakip Dulatuly,
Mukhametzhan Tynyshbaevich, Zhakip Akbai, Bakytzhan
Karatai, who were followed by the sons of the future of
Narkasy –Zhakhansha Dosmukhamed, Magzhan
Zhumabai, Saken Seifullin, Mustafa Shokai, Turar Ryskul,
Smagul Saduakas, Zhusupbek Aimaut, Mukhtar Auez and
others.
 After the establishment of Soviet power, Alikhan
Bokeikhanov did not open his eyes from exile. He
was accused of nationalism and exiled to Moscow.
Nevertheless, without ceasing the struggle for the
preservation of the integrity of the Kazakh state,
Alikhan Bokeikhanov, who wrote articles and
reports, was finally sentenced to death in 1937.
Thus, the remains of another leader of the
Kazakh National Movement were left without a
trace. As they say, Stalin's repressions engulfed
thousands of Kazakhstanis. There is not a single
family left whose person has not been arrested,
exiled and has not seen the unbearable condition
of the abacus. It is not known where the remains
of thousands of people are. The search for the
realities of Stalinist repression in independent
Kazakhstan is limited only by the initiative of
individual scientists and enthusiasts. The crime
committed openly by the communist system was
not a punishment.
