General Strategy of Reading
Comprehension
• First of all, read the questions and the answer choices
• Decide on the types of questions being asked
• Reading consist of (1) Main Idea questions, (2) Information Questions,
and (3) Vocabulary Questions.
• Information questions are divided into (1) explicit (stated), (2) implicit,
and (3) unstated information
• Vocabulary questions are mostly contextual
• Rely on the reading passages
Conclusion
• Make sure to go to the questions and read the answer choices first.
• Decide which type of question is asked.
• Apply the strategies that you’ve learned in this workshop.
• Decide on the answers based on information given in the passage
