RISING ACTION
The plot describes what happens in the play and is usually planned with acts and actions from the beginning of the play till the end. A plot could be charted on a line graph as seen here.

First part of the plot Provides the basis of the play. Characters, events and settings starts to be introduced to the reader.
EXAMPLE of EXPOSITION:
[CHARACTERS] CAST IN ORDER OF APPEARANCE:
e.g.: LORD SEPTIC Nasty boss of the railways. A cruel and evil villain of worst sort PERCY The Dashing hero-handsome,brave and squeaky clean .right down to his undies. (pages 61 for et cetera and other references)
manservant Crouch a gaveling bully are waiting for the midnight express at the train station. Lord Septic owns all the trains stations and he wants more wealth, power and fame.
RISING ACTION
Second part of the plot Also known as conflict Prolonged struggle by the characters will take place due to problems faced
CLIMAX
The problem will continue to persist until they escalate and the characters will be faced with a crisis. This part is the middle part of the plot or play and may be the most interesting part of the play.
Example of Climax
Lord Septic hits Percy and ties Rose to the track. Percy runs off to try and stop the train from coming down the track.
Falling Action
The problems begin to untangle and there is hope that all will turn out well in this part of the plot.
Resolution
Resolution is the last part of the plot and in this plot is where the problems get solved and the play comes to an end.
Example of Resolution
Lord septic and crouch, the villains, are tied up and waiting to be picked up by the police. Percy, the Dashing hero proposes to rose and she agrees to marry him.
