Interview is one of the procedures of selection of an employee. It is most widely and
popularly used selection technique. Irrespective of nature, size and type of organization, all organizations use ‘interview’ as a best tool or weapon to select an employee. Types of interview:
1. structured or direct Interview:
A structured interview is when all questions are prepared in advance. A structured interview is a standardized way of interviewing job candidates based on the specific needs of the job they are applying for. Candidates are asked the same questions in the same order, and are all compared on the same scale. They are pre-planned to high degree of accuracy and precision. 2. Unstructured or Indirect interview: An unstructured interview is an interview in which there is no specific set of predetermined questions, although the interviewers usually have certain topics in mind that they wish to cover during the interview. Unstructured interviews flow like an everyday conversation and tend to be more informal and open-ended. An unstructured interview is not a specific set of questions asked in a predetermined order. 3. Semi-structured interview: A semi-structured interview is a meeting in which the interviewer does not strictly follow a formalized list of questions. Instead, they will ask more open-ended questions, allowing for a discussion with the interviewee rather than a straightforward question and answer format. Interview flows like a conversation 4. They are designed to test your ability to think on your feet, respond appropriately in difficult situations and stay calm in a pressurized environment. A stress interview is an interviewing style that companies use to gauge a candidate's response to stress. 5. Assessment or Appraisal Interview: An appraisal interview is an exchange between a manager and an employee that is designed to evaluate the employee and create a career development plan. A performance appraisal interview is the first stage of the performance appraisal process and involves the employee and his or her manager sitting face to face to discuss threadbare all aspects of the employee's performance and thrash out any differences in perception or evaluation. 6. One-to-One interview: The One to One job interview is the most common interview where only the interviewer and the interviewee is present. It is usually the final stage of applying for a job ... The format of the interview is conversational with the interviewer driving the agenda in the beginning and the interviewee asking questions towards the end.
