POPCORN DANCE
• When the ball is toss to someone, they have to dance.
• Ball should be catch at all times, fail to catch the ball will
be a minus points to the whole class on their next
performance task.
• Minus 1 point for every missed.

CHOREOGRAPHY
• Is an art of dancing that is composed of series of dance
steps and movements to create a story.
• It is used in a variety of fields ( musical theatre,
cheerleading, cinematography, gymnastic, fashion
shows, show choir, video game production, animated
art… etc..)

Folk Dance /
Ethnic Dance
• are social dances that portray the
beliefs, interests, habits, customs
and practices of the native.

• Ex. Singkil, Pandango sa Ilaw


and Itik-itik

Ballroom Dances
• Are dances of public entertainment
usually performed in pairs in ballroom,
auditoriums or in public places.
• The latter part of the 1990s was a
crucial period for Philippine ballroom;
it was when dance sport was born in the
country
• Ex: Cha-cha, Tango, Rumba, Waltz

Theatrical Dances
• Are performed for the
entertainment of the audience in
a theatre.
• Ex. Ballet, modern dance,
musical comedy dance and tap
dance
What is Contemporary
Dance?
• Contemporary Dance is a performing
art that involves rhythmic body
movement within a given space,
choreographed based on musical beat.
• It is performed either in front of an
audience or by everyone on a dance
floor.
Elements of Dance
Theme – is the most basic element of dance . It conveys
the message of the dance.
Design – is a pattern of movement in time and space.
Movement – bodily actions of the dancer that includes his
steps.
Elements of Dance
Technique – the skill of movement executed by the
dancer.
Music – the auditory background to which the dancer
moves.
Costume – worn by the dancer that help reflect the
message, customs and beliefs.
Elements of Dance
 Choreography – the figures and steps in dancing that
enable the dancers to perform in an organized manner.
 Scenery – the background or setting where the dance is
performed to make it more realistic.
