MACBETH

KING DUNCAN
• Duncan is presented to us as a
dignified, gentle and appreciative
ruler.
• He is referred as a Saintly king.
• He has all the qualities of a good
king.
• He has holiness, generosity and
sense of justice.
• At the same time Duncan is quick in
punishing the disloyal and faithless.
The Witches
• They represent evil , darkness
and conflict.
• They appear to have a warped
sense of morality
• They strongly believe in
“ Fair is foul and foul is fair”.
• They catalogue in Thunder and
lightning by creating ominous
atmosphere.
MACBETH
• Macbeth is a brave Scottish
general in king Duncan’s army.
• Macbeth is the main character in
the play.
• He is portrayed as a loyal , valiant
warriors who it seems would do
anything for his king and country.
• This shows that Macbeth must
have great capacities of goodness
in him.
LADY MACBETH
• She is extremely ambitious and
power-hungry women.
• She is also ruthless and willful.
• She loved her husband deeply
and wanted to see him as the
king of scotland.
• At the end of the story, Her evil
thoughts are leading her to evil
path.
Moral of the story
• Ambition and Greed for power is the most important
and prominent theme or message in the story of
Macbeth . The whole play revolves around a character
who is engulfed in ambition and the idea of being
powerful. Macbeth very clearly carries the whole
message of how ambition drives him to act in the way
he did.
