(Hook): The princess faces a conflict fueled by her love for the
lover while being entangled in her loyalty to her father, The
king. The internal struggle emanates from the Princess’s
revelation that the young man she loves has been accused and
brought before the court for his forbidden affection. She
experiences conflicting emotions of protectiveness, as she does
not wish him to perish at the jaws of a tiger , and
possessiveness, as she does not want him to become the
husband of another woman. The conflict escalates as she
contemplates the consequences of revealing the lady behind the
door to the lover. Ultimately, The princess has to decide the fate
of her lover

(Thesis statement): The princess may not want to antagonize

her father. He is, after all, a ruthless tyrant and someone used
to getting his own way. The princess, as the daughter of a king,
is expected to be subservient and obedient. We also know that
the princess is somewhat insecure and insanely jealous of the
pretty young lady at court who has been making eyes at her
lover. Perhaps she suspects that they are already carrying on an
affair? If that’s the case, then choosing the door with the tiger
behind it would be her way to gain revenge

QUOTE/EVIDENCE FROM STORY:

The author writes that as soon as the princess had learned of her lover’s
fate in the king’s arena that “she had thought of nothing, night or day,
but this great event” (48).

 Although, there is plenty of evidence that shows how much the

princess was jealous of the lady and hated the lady behind the door
which could of led the princess choosing to point the man to the
tiger. Even if she accepted the fact that her boyfriend would never
come back to her, then what’s the point of him living if he can’t be
with her

QUOTE/EVIDENCE FROM STORY:

“Her decision had been indicated in an instant, but it had been made
after days and nights of anguished deliberation (50).”

 The princess was only semi-barbaric—this means that half of her

was reasonable and able to resist barbaric and emotional
reactions. If she had to make her decision instantly, then, her
barbaric blood would probably have won out, even if she
discussed her decisions over the past few days, anxiety would fill
her tensioned body and force herself to sink onto the negative
thoughts

QUOTE/EVIDENCE FROM STORY:

“The girl was lovely, but she had dared to raise her eyes to the loved one of the
princess; and, with all the intensity of the savage blood transmitted to her
through long lines of wholly barbaric ancestors, she hated the woman who
blushed and trembled behind that silent door.”
 she is agonizingly jealous at the prospect of her lover marrying another
woman—especially the lady selected for the young man, whom the princess
hates for having flirted with him in the past. Surely the princess would know
better than to let the love of her life go to someone she has hatred for and a
fueled an anger towards the lady, the thoughts and sight of her lover in
another woman's arm would have fueled her anger towards the woman even
more, therefore she would choose the tiger rather than agonizing in deep
jealousy

“PROTECTIVE LOVE”:
 Alternatively, the princess might choose the tiger out
of a twisted sense of love. She might believe that if she
cannot have her lover, no one else should either. Choosing
the tiger would ensure that her lover does not end up with
the lady behind the other door.

SENSE OF JUSTICE/DEFIANCE
 Some argue that the princess might choose the
tiger as a form of justice. If she believes her lover
is guilty of the crime for which he is being judged,
she might see the tiger as a fitting punishment.
 The princess might choose the tiger as a form of
rebellion against the unjust system imposed by
the king. By sending her lover to face the tiger,
she could be making a statement against the cruel
practice of the trial by ordeal.

However, when we think of why the princess would choose the tiger,
reference is made to as the "hot-blooded, semi barbaric princess," which
obviously indicates she, like her father, is capable of barbaric acts.
Remember that we are told she has a soul "as fervent and imperious" as her
father's. Her intense jealousy as she imagines her lover opening the door to
find the beautiful maiden is eloquently expressed:
But how much oftener had she seen him at the other door! How in
her grievous reveries had she gnashed her teeth, and torn her
hair, when she saw his start of rapturous delight as he opened the door of
the lady! How her should had burned in agony when she had seen him rush
to meet that woman, with her flushing cheek and sparking eye of triumph...

REBUTTAL TO OPPOSING TEAM:

Jealousy is a negative emotion that causes a person to feel fearful, angry, or resentful
when they believe their relationship is at risk. While it is normal to feel jealousy from
time to time, if it is allowed to escalate or fester it can morph into something much
more insidious or dangerous. As for what you said the last time you told that Jealousy
is negative, though it is true and jealousy is bad. As well as picking the tiger that was
purely evil and bad, We cant deny that being Evil and Bad is stronger than good and
everyone has a reason and every right to be evil, bad or jealous Being bad will lead to
no weaknesses, fearing no one and no distractions will go through your way in finding
YOUR happiness and success as well as taking what you want or taking back what’s
yours, as well as for the princess. She had every reason to choose the tiger given her
the barbaric blood in her. She had every right to become jealous over someone
stealing the love of her life and her believed to be soulmate

REBUTTAL TO OPPOSING TEAM:

how would you feel if someone you loved so much were taken away from you and
had no option to ever come back? How would YOU feel if someone that was stated
to have publicly love and flirted the person You love be the one he was bound to
marry? And if you believe that love is still stronger than jealousy. A part may be
right, but if you love someone as deeply as what “true love” is, you would
understand that even if you would want them to be happy, would THEY be happy of
forcefully loving someone else rather than you whom they solely love and trust with
their whole life?
Adding to that they would feel of course betrayed and shocked that you or even if the
princess chose and let him go to love another woman, If he truly loved her and was
faithfully loyal to her just like what “true love” is, He would accept his death rather
than dying in the arms of another woman he did not truly love.

hinges on several interpretations of the story. One

argument is that the tiger represents justice in its
rawest form. In a society where justice is
determined by chance, the tiger's choice could be
seen as a fair consequence for the accused.
Additionally, some may argue that the princess,
angered or jealous over her lover's potential
relationship with the lady, will choose the tiger out
of spite or possessiveness. This interpretation
suggests that the princess values her pride or sense
of ownership over the life of her lover. Overall,
defending the tiger's selection underscores themes
of fate, justice, and the complexity of human
