Vehicle Fire Suppression

System [AFSS-CF]
Made for Arson-type Attack Events
in the Southern Macro Zone of Chile.
Vehicles and Fire
Currently, dealing with fires in vehicles is becoming increasingly complex, mainly due to the new alloys
used in the manufacturing of car bodies and engines.

Traditional extinguishing agents are not designed to reduce the high heat load contributed by the
new materials used. Materials such as the following are being employed:

• Iron alloys: steel and alloyed steels.

• Aluminum alloys.
• Magnesium alloys.
• Titanium alloys.
• Plastics and alloys of these, with the option to be reinforced or not.
• Among many other metallic and non-metallic materials.

Most of these materials used are classified as class D combustible materials,

according to the standards of the NFPA.
Aluminum used as material for automobile bodies is alloyed with
metals such as magnesium, zinc, silicon, or copper, and it can also
include other metals like iron, manganese, zirconium, chromium,
or titanium to enhance its mechanical properties.

Optionally, to improve performance during welding processes,

scandium is also added.
AFSS-CF :: Automatic Fire Suppression System
The AFSS-CF system, COLD FIRE Automatic Fire Suppression System, is a system
designed for fire suppression in vehicles, with most of its components manufactured in
stainless steel.
Advancing to more reliable systems that can be user-configured, the AFSS-CF system is
equipped with a processor, thermocouple-type sensors, and solenoid-operated
discharge openings for the extinguishing agent. The system's processor can be
programmed for different functions, such as full discharges upon activation, regulated
on-off discharges with temperature ranges, zone discharges, etc. It can also be
programmed to activate at the desired temperature. It can be used as a preventive
system or as a fire extinguishing system.

Our AFSS-CF system is designed to adjust the discharge rate of the agent, allowing
control of the radiant heat temperature and providing operators with enough time to
evacuate the area with a controlled environment.

Optionally, it can incorporate armored cameras with artificial intelligence for automatic activation, minimizing false
positives and optimizing response times in case of fires.
• The system is designed to provide a prudent and necessary amount of time for the
timely evacuation of the operator and the arrival of fire brigade teams. It also aims
to offer a more favorable scenario for containing the fire with portable elements
(portable extinguishers).
• Eventually, depending on the accumulated heat load and the points where the fire
may have originated, the system may be capable of completely extinguishing a fire
incident, as commonly occurs with arson attacks on forestry machines.
• Thanks to its COLD FIRE extinguishing agent, the AFSS-CF systems not only serve to
protect engine compartments or hydraulic systems, but they are also highly
recommended for use in the operator's cabin.
• This system is widely used, with more than 3,500 kits currently installed in Chile,
especially in the forestry industry, where it has been directly tested against
incendiary attacks.

Cold Fire fire suppression agent.
A good fire suppression system must have an efficient
and effective extinguishing agent:

• Particularly in vehicles, the types of combustible materials would be

classified, according to NFPA standards, as classes: A, B, C, D & K.
• The Cold Fire additive allows for effective and efficient combating of
fire classes or types of fuels present, especially the more complex
ones like Class D (aluminum, magnesium, titanium, etc.).
• The extinguishing agent must be free of toxic agents and capable of
protecting people first and foremost.
 The extinguishing agent COLD FIRE is a German-Israeli formula made in the
USA and enhanced with nanocatalyst technology by INSA Global in Chile.
This innovation significantly improves the efficiency in extinguishing high
heat load fires in the five fire classes defined by NFPA standards (A, B, C, D,
and K).

 According to the UL laboratory certification in the USA, COLD FIRE acts as a

water enhancer, increasing its extinguishing capacity up to twenty-one
times. This allows for the use of smaller tanks than those required for
water in its natural state.

 The effectiveness of the COLD FIRE agent is based on the rapid reduction
of temperature, interrupting the chain reaction and eliminating the
possibility of re-ignition by not reaching the temperature necessary for
combustion.
Why use COLD FIRE? Advantages
 It is non-toxic.  In case of emergency, it can be applied directly to people to
reduce the risk of burns caused by fire or extreme heat.
 Certified free of PFOA, PFAS, and PFOS.
 In an emergency, it can be applied to fabric or a mouth cover and
 It is non-corrosive. breathed through, thus filtering out smoke hydrocarbons,
 100% biodegradable. avoiding intoxication and burns to the respiratory system.
 Authorized for use by paramedics on skin burns.
 Extinguishes all types of fires, according to NFPA
standards: classes A, B, C, D, and K.  It is natural, safe, quick, and clean.
 Can be used in enclosed spaces without contaminating the air.
 It does not pollute.
 Reduces the density of smoke hydrocarbons.
 Recognized by UL, ULC, NFPA, EPA-SNAP.
 Quickly extinguishes any type of fire.
 Leaves no residue.
 Can be used in foundries.
 Water-soluble.
 Efficient for use in vehicle fire extinguishment.
 Does not require special cleaning.
 For use on aircraft in combating forest fires.
 Rapidly reduces surface temperatures.  Among many other advantages.
 Prevents re-ignition.
 Creates a fire-retardant protective shield.
In summary, our AFSS-CF system offers the following advantages:

 Modularity and flexibility to adapt to any vehicle or machinery model.

 Effective temperature reduction that minimizes the chances of re-ignition.
 Especially effective on electromobility machinery that uses lithium batteries
(class D).
 Lower cost (price and quality), compared to traditional systems, representing
significant savings.
 Extinguishing agent free of harmful substances, avoiding damage to operators
and the environment.
 Lower maintenance and recharge costs.
 Ability to create a barrier against fire, allowing for the safe evacuation of
operators.
 Among others.
