THE
SYMPOSIUM
2.0
TS2: What we aim to do
• OptX is thrilled to host The Symposium 2.0, a sequel to The Symposium 1.0 which
was held on 7th January 2023.
Atkinson Hyperlegible

• The symposium 2.0 is a unique event combining a conference, panel discussion, and
debate, focusing on the convergence of economic sociology and Economic Data
Science.

• OptX aims to contribute to societal efforts by providing a large student body to

engage in simulations related to the agenda, where participants and experts
collaborate to find solutions to problems.
TS1: What we did
• On 7th January last year, The Symposium 1.0, successfully brought together
students to engage in conversations in the topics of Astrophysics and Biomedicine
at Dubai Youth Hub.

• The 2 sub-committees were led by Dr. Malcolm Podmore, an orthopedic and

Atkinson Hyperlegible

trauma surgeon, and Dr. Aquib Moin, an astrophysics professor and researcher.

• They discussed the obstacles, the latest technical advances, and the relative
applications of their fields. The attendees garnered invaluable insights into the
lives and careers of these remarkable individuals who are at the forefront of their
scientific fields.

TS2: What we aim to do
• In The Symposium 2.0, we aim to bring students together to delve into the study of
two diverse yet deeply interconnected fields through one common agenda:
“Synchronizing Sociological Trends in Advertising with Market Trend and Volatility
Forecasting” under the guidance of accomplished professionals.

• They will analyze hypothetical scenarios through the dual lens of Economic
Sociology and Data Science with Economics. Expert speakers with decades of
expertise in the respective fields will guide these discussions.
TS2: What we aim to do
• Following the simulations, a brief interactive panel discussion will unfold, featuring all our
expert speakers delving into various topics pertinent to these fields. These speakers will also
share valuable insights for students aspiring to pursue careers in the mentioned domains. The
audience will have the opportunity to pose questions to the guest speakers.

• Subsequently, a concise debate round will commence, introducing a challenging topic where
deciding a stance proves exceptionally difficult. Participants will be tasked with choosing either
a supportive or opposing position.

• Divided into two groups, a round-robin format will be employed, randomly prompting each side
to articulate their perspectives for approximately 45 seconds each.
