Skema ini meyakini bahwa entitas

psike yang tumbuh lebih dulu adalah
reason, daya rasionalisasi manusia
atau daya kognitif individu. Skema
ini berpendapat bahwa reaksi
instingtif tumbuh dengan cara yang
sama mekanisnya dengan
pemerolehan keterampilan yang
membutuhkan rasionalisasi kognitif.
Baru setelah insting terbentuk dari
proses kognitif tertentu, refleks akan
terbentuk kemudian sebagai pola
reaksi yang lebih kompleks,
aplikatif, dan mekanis yang
digunakan oleh individu dalam
berkehidupan

pengalaman instingtual yang
diturunkan dari refleks dasar
manusia. Padangan ini berpendapat
bahwa individu tidak dapat
mengembangkan keterampilan
rasionalisasinya tanpa
menginternalisasi pengalaman-
pengalaman instingtual sebelumnya.
