• A chemical element is made of only one type of atoms. An


element cannot be further broken into another substance.

• Compound – A compound is formed when two or more


different elements chemically combined together in a fixed
ratio; where the component elements cannot be separated
by physical methods.

• Mixture– A mixture is formed when two or more different


elements are mixed together ; where the component
elements can be separated by physical methods.
