WHAT IS RETRIEVAL?
Retrieval generally refers to the process of recovering or
obtaining information that has been stored or encoded in a
memory system.
Information Retrieval: In the field of computer science and
information science, information retrieval refers to the process of
obtaining information from a database or a collection of data. This
can involve searching for and retrieving specific documents, files,
or pieces of information.
Memory Retrieval: In psychology, retrieval is a cognitive
process related to memory. It involves bringing stored information
from memory into conscious awareness. There are different types
of memory retrieval, such as recall (retrieving information
without any cues) and recognition (identifying information from a
list of options).
Search Engine Retrieval: When using search engines like
Google, retrieval refers to the process of finding and displaying
relevant information in response to a user's search query.
Retrieval Practice: In education, retrieval practice is a learning
strategy where individuals actively recall information from
memory as a way to enhance long-term retention. This involves
self-quizzing or testing to strengthen memory recall.
DRUG STORAGE AND
RETRIEVAL
Drug storage and retrieval refers to the process of
collecting, cataloguing and retrieving the data in
order to display and retrieve it when called for .
Government , commercial and academic
organizations can now retrieve large amounts of
information quickly and selectively.
The system that retrieves whole document usually
retrieves them by their title and by their keyboards
associated with them.
HISTORY
Complete on search of drug details is necessary for clinical pharmacist to
satisfy queries about drug pharmacology.
- Job of searching is simplified by using computer.
In 1964
National Library of Medicine (NLM) created. * Computerized medical
information retrieval
system Known as MEOLARS (Midi Literature Analysis & Retrieval
System).
In 1971
A fast working system, known as "HEOLINE" (HEDLAKS ON-LINE") was
formed.
Data base may be:
1.Bilibography
2.Journal info
3.Textbook material
To retrieve information, choice of database is vital!

medical & pharmaceutical literature:
