ABSTRACT
• The agricultural sector is rising as a high-tech industry, attracting
young workers, new enterprises, and buyers. The technology is
increasingly evolving, improving farmers’ processing capability, and
progressing robotics and automation technology.
• In the face of a growing global population and changing climatic
conditions, the demand for increased crop yields and resource
efficiency has never been greater. Smart agriculture, empowered by
smart sensors, emerges as a solution to these challenges.
• The introduction of sensors and agro-bot has sparked a new path in
agricultural and farming science. Smart agriculture is an innovative
theory about the technologies since different sensors provide
information on agricultural fields.
CONTENTS
INTRODUCTION
• Smart sensors are advanced devices that integrate traditional sensors
with computational capabilities, communication interfaces, and data
processing to provide real-time, actionable information.
• Few key characteristics of smart sensors include Sensing Capabilities
(such as temperature, humidity, pressure, light, motion), Data
Processing (data processing can include filtering, data fusion, feature
extraction, and even machine learning algorithms), Communication
(capable of communicating with other devices or systems through
wireless or wired connections).
• Smart agriculture, also known as precision agriculture or precision
farming is the use of advanced technologies and data-driven solutions
to enhance the efficiency, sustainability, and productivity of farming
practices. Smart agriculture uses smart sensors, automation, and data
analytics to monitor and manage various aspects of farming.

WORKING PRINCIPLE
CONTENTS
WORKING PRINCIPLE
CONTENTS

• The smart agriculture system includes an Arduino Uno board, three

sensors (soil temperature, soil moisture, and water sensors), and an
ESP8266 Wi-Fi module for internet connectivity.
• The system collects sensor readings every 30 seconds and computes
correlation values every five readings to check sensor states and detect
faults.
• Sensor readings and states are sent to Things-Board using the
ESP8266 Wi-Fi module, allowing clear viewing of data and graphical
representation of sensor readings.
• The system uses DS18B20 for temperature measurement, FC-28
hygrometer for soil moisture, and a water sensor module.

• The dashboards of Things-

Board platform consists of
two types of widget which are
float time series and four
cards. The float time series
shows all sensor readings of
the soil over time. Three cards
show the correlation state
between two sensors (Positive
or Negative) and one card
shows the sensors state (good
or faulty).
CONCLUSION
CONTENTS

• This system has been designed using Arduino Uno with the ESP8266
module, which is attached to establish a Wi-Fi connection allowing
internet connectivity. The developed smart agriculture system was
attached with three-sensors: water sensor, moisture sensor, and
temperature sensor. Things-Board is selected as the IoT cloud platform.
The sensor readings are collected periodically and send to the Things-
Board via the internet.
• When all sensors are in good condition, all sensor readings are correlated
with each other.
