WAX RECORD RIMS REFLECTION CONTINUED

• I drew an outline on the retromolar pads, but I initially divided it into fourth (fixed it)
• There were some undercuts located under the posterior residual ridge area especially
besides the retro molar pad.
• When I placed the wax record base, I noticed that it makes a lot easier to melt the wax by
using the metal plate to smooth out the surface before measuring the dimensions
• Following the blue markers around the land area helps a lot to shape the corresponding
edentulous arch.
• Vaseline is used as a separating agent

• It is important to align and check the incisal pin to the midline along the incisive papilla. When
arranging the anterior teeth, I used the typodont to check the the height of contour and placed the
tooth #8 and #9 first. I assured that the incisal edge to be parallel to occlusal plane.
• I learned that long axis of the central incisal is more esthetically pleasing by adding a mesial
inclination
ANTERIOR DENTURE SETUP REFLECTION CONT.

• From the facial view, the cervical aspect of #8 #9 is depressed while the incisal 2/3 are
perpendicular to the plane of occlusion

• I placed the lateral incisal 1mm above the plane of occlusion. Also, it
positioned much better with a slight mesial inclination (check with the
central incisor)
• I should’ve added more curvature on the internal side.
ANTERIOR DENTURE SETUP REFLECTION CONT.

• I had a difficult time placing the canine because it connects not only the anterior but the posterior
teeth as a bridge. It is like a critical point to set up the alignment and arch. The best result was
made when the cuspid are vertically aligned to cervical and incisal edges.
• interestingly, the facial surface of the cuspid is canted inward.

• The cusp has two planes, but

only mesial plane should be
visible from the front view.
ANTERIOR DENTURE SETUP REFLECTION CONT.

• The mandibular central/lateral incisors were much easier to place because once you set
the central incisal teeth correctly, the rest just follows the long axis perpendicular to the
occlusal plane. Also, Incisal 1/3 is slightly depressed lingually.

• The mandibular premolar

should’ve tilted mesially.

I had so much fun during the complete denture project because I learned the process of complete
denture from scratch. I need to practice more on placing the denture teeth more accurately (especially
2nd mandibular molar & K9). Also, it would been much better If I spent more time on festooning
which makes the denture teeth look more esthetically pleasing for the patient. A D4 student in after-
hour sim lab demonstrated me how to apply both hot/cold festooning technique with alcohol torch.
Next time, I will be more considerate about the embrasure and buccal corridor as well as the plane of
occlusion. Again, centric relation, bilateral posterior contact, minimizing tipping in complete denture
is important to complete teeth arrangement. Overall, my goal is to create the denture that looks more
natural and esthetic to provide a patient with a quality product.
