INTRODUCTION

 Screw conveyor are widely used for transporting and

elevating particulates at controlled and steady rates
 They are used in many bulk material applications in
industries ranging from industrial mineral ,
agriculture, chemical and etc.
 They are also used for me metering which also
measuring flow rate from storage bins and adding
small controlled amount of trace material such as
pigments to granular material.

Problem statement

 i. This manual is helpful in designing of screw conveyors

using calculations in metric units.
 ii.Saving of labour and time.
 iii. To increase the output like with the help of conveyors more work
can be done with a given floor space, blocks are avoided.
 iv. To utilize existing building for new purposes: Conveying plant
enables two or more detached building to be connected together and
used for several operations in proper sequence.
 v. Reducing personal hazardous like the enclosing trough can be
made tight enough to contain toxic dust and vapours.
 vi. Material in transit can be heated or cooled by jacketing the trough.

Screw Conveyor’s History Background

 The first screw conveyor was discover during the Ancient

Egypt during the rein of Assyrian King Sennacherib in
704-681 BC
 Before it is called the screw Conveyor, it’s called
Archimedes water conveyor which named after a famous
scientist.
 The screw conveyor what we see in this era is basically
has been innovated during the WW1
