What is Typhoon?
• It is a powerful tropical cyclone that forms
over the ocean waters in western pacific
ocean. It is essentially the same phenomenon
as a hurricane or typhoon.
How does typhoons form?
• Certain elements come together to generate typhoons:
warm ocean, humid air, and minimal wind shear.
Clusters of thunderstorms have the ability to assemble
and strengthen into tropical depressions when specific
requirements are fulfilled.
Different part of typhoons
• Eye – Center of the storm. Characterized by Calm winds and
clear skies.
• Eyewall – Where the strongest winds and heaviest rainfall
occur.
• Rainbands – Bands of thunderstorms that spiral outward the
eyewall.
• Outflow – Helping to ventilate the system and maintain it
strength.
What to do and bring during typhoon
• Emergency Kit
- Prepare first aid kit, flash light, batteries, portable phone charger and
necessary medications.
• Secure Your Home
- Reinforce doors, windows, trim trees and bushes and secure loosed
outdoor items.
• Stay Informed
- Monitor weather updates and follow instructions from local
authorities.

• Evacuation Plan
- Familiarize yourself with evacuation routes and shelters in your area.
• Stay Indoors
- Avoid going outside during the typhoon.
• Emergency Contacts
- Make sure all the family members know how to contact each other.
• Back Up Power
- If possible, have a backup power source.

• Food and Water
- Have an ample supply of food and water to last several days.
• Emergency Cash
- Keep some cash on hand.
• Medication
