ARISTOTLE-300 B.C.

The idea of elements

first came about in 300
B.C. The great Greek
philosopher conceived an
idea that everything on
earth was made up of;
AIR
FIRE
EARTH
WATER
ANTOINE de LAVOISER-
1789

The earliest attempt to

classify the elements was in
1789, when Antoine
Lavoisier grouped the
elements based on their
properties into Gases, Non-
Metals, Metals and Earths
JHON DALTON-
1806
In 1806,
Dalton assigned
atomic weights to
the atoms of the 20
elements he knew of
at the time
JOHANN DOBEREINER-
1829

In 1829, Johann
Döbereiner recognised
triads of elements with
chemically similar
properties, such as
Lithium, Sodium and
Potassium
LOTHAR MEYER-1864

In 1864 he was the

first person to
recognise the
periodic trends in
the properties of
elements
JOHN NEWLAND-
1864
In 1864 he was the first to
arrange the elements into a
periodic table with
increasing order of atomic
masses. He found that every
eight elements had similar
properties and called this the
law of octaves
MENDELEEV-1869

In 1869, after the

rejection of
Newlands Octave
Law, Mendeleev
Periodic table came
into the picture
ABRAHAM LEO ERRERA-
1900

In 1900 Errera was the first

botanist who proposed to put
inert gas in 0 group. In 1902,
Mendeleev wrote that those
elements should be put in a
new group 0; he said this
idea was referred to Errera
as to the first person to
suggest the idea
MENDELEEV -
1904

In 1904 after the

Errera gave an idea
of separate group of
inert gases he
introduce new
periodic table
ALFERD WERNER -
1905

In 1905 the periodic

table Werner devised
is essentially what
we call the 32-
column periodic
table, although
Werner's version had
in fact 33 columns
GLENN T. SEABORG -
1944

In 1944 he co-
discover 10 elements.
He moved 14
elements out of
periodic table today
known as actinide
series.
WILLIAM RAMSAY

In 1894 William Ramsay and

Rayleigh discovered
monoatomic gas in our
atmosphere which is chemically
inert and have a percentage of
about 1% in atmosphere and
named it Argon. Later on he
discovered Neon , Krypton ,
Xenon,
JOHN BERZELIUS -1818

In 1818, he determined
precise atomic weights
for 45 of the known 49
elements. His this
contribution gave us
frame work of our
modern periodic table.
NEILS BOHR

He was the first

person who
discovered that the
chemical properties
depends upon the
outermost electron pf
any group
