DIFFERENCE BITWEEN MENDELEEV AND LOTHAR MAYER

PERIODIC TABLE
 In 1860 Meyer and Mendeleev wear among young
chemists attending the first international chemist
congress
 Dmitri Mendeleev and Julius Lothar Meyer had also
worked together with Robert Bunsen
 Same time chemists had been trying to device a
logical system to classification by arranging the
elements by atomic weight .
JULIUS LOTHAR MEYER
He was a German
chemist. He was one of
the pioneers in
developing the earliest
versions of periodic
table of chemical
elements.
LOTHAR MEYER PERIODIC TABLE

In 1862 Meyer used atomic weight to

arrange 28 elements into 6 families
that bore same chemical and physical
properties as well. Leaving a blank
for an as yet undiscovered elements.
Original scheme the valencies of
succeeding families begining with
carbon group were 4,3,2,1,1 and 2.
But at that time he didn’t predicts
any new elements.
 DMITRI LVANOVICH MENDELEEV
He was Russian chemist and inventor. He
is best known for formulating the
periodic and creating a version of
periodic table of elements. He used the
periodic law not only to correct the than
accepted properties of some elements
such as valance and atomic weight of
uranium but also to predicts the
properties of three elements that were
yet to be discovered ( Germanium ,
Gallium and Scandium).
 MENDLELEEV PERIODIC TABLE
Dmitri Mendeleev developed the
periodic law, which states that the
properties of elements are periodic
functions of their atomic masses.
In 1869, he published his periodic table
in his book PRINCIPLE OF CHEMISTRY
arranging elements based on their
atomic masses and properties, and
leaving gaps for undiscovered
elements.
He predicts properties of undiscovered
elements.
