Measures to Mitigate Hazard
 C/O RCC Drain in a length of 950 mtrs. on nallah.
Why this Mitigation Measure is Important
Since last many years the Village Dehlan and its surrounding area experience
severe flooding problems during rainy season in Dehlan Nallah and resulting in
erosion on both banks of nallah, as well as flooding of houses, agricultural land
and the socio economic affairs of the habitants of this village. During the
monsoon period it causes immense flood damages, the water enters into the
houses and damages many houses and agriculture land at the banks of the
nallah. The area affected is 40 Hect. and 192 No. population will be benefitted by
providing Flood Protection Work. The objectives of this project is to construct
flood protection work and cardon off this valuable property from floods and
avoid such damages in future.
Detail of Vulnerable Area
The village Dehlan is situated in Tehsil and District Una and about 8 km from
Proposed site Una on Una-Nangal road. During the rainy season, flash floods directly hit the
valuable land, various houses and commercial properties like shop as well as
agricultural land located on both banks of Nallah. Approximately 40 Hectare land
and 38 No. Houses of village Dehlan Lower are always in danger of floods.
Therefore it is utmost important for Construction of RCC box Drain in a length of
950 Rmt. on both banks of Dehlan Nallah, so that the related problem faced by
the villagers of Dehlan Lower during heavy rainfall will be solved.

Necessity of the Project:-

• The Area effected from flood is 40 Hect. and 180 No. Population.

• The advantage of RCC drains is to control floods and Bank erosion losses. This can save lives as
well as livelihoods and properties.

• Saving the commercial land, houses from floods.

• Saving of human life, cattles & to control spreading of epidemic due to floods.

• Proposed site
Saving of soil erosion, water logging, siltation in the area on account of floods.

• Saving of communication, roads links & Govt. revenue losses due to flood in Khad.

• The beneficial effects were found to be increased flood-free secured land for agriculture,
settlement, industry and infrastructure.

HYDROLOGY & DESIGN CONSIDERATION:-

The Peak Flood Discharge data of Dehlan Nallah has been taken from the CWPRS technical report No. 5056 of March
2013. The Mathematical model studies for Swan River and its tributaries has been conducted in year 2013. The
maximum flood discharge of 67.00 cumecs is considered as design discharge.
