What is V2X ?
V2X integration with connected cars encounters hurdles like interoperability, cyber security,
infrastructure readiness, privacy, and regulations. Overcoming these challenges is vital for
unlocking V2X's potential, requiring collaborative solutions and innovation. Benefits include
safer roads, smoother traffic, and improved driving experiences.
Literature Survey
1) Maria Calderon and Oscar Amador “A survey on road safety and traffic efficiency vehicular applications based
on C-V2X technologies”, Volume 33, 2022.
-This literature survey focuses on the use of cellular technologies for providing road safety and traffic
efficiency applications in the connected vehicle.
2) Xun Yang and Jiping Xing “Autonomous driving under V2X environment: state-of-the-art survey and
challenges” 2023.
- It highlights the role of V2X in improving traffic efficiency and road safety, as well as the need for
addressing legislation and security issues.
• DSRC:
- Defined by IEEE
- Operates in the 75 MHz band of 5.9 GHz spectrum
- Wi-Fi based technology – 802.11p standard
- Capable of two-way communications up to 1000m(1km)
• C-V2X:
- Defined by 3GPP
- Dedicated radio in the 5.9 GHz band
- Additional radio in the licensed cellular band (LTE/5GNR)
Overview of DSRC
• DSRC was introduced over 10 years ago to add intelligence to
transportation systems
• Vehicle-to-network, (V2N)
• Vehicle-to-pedestrian (V2P)

Conclusion
V2X technology represents a revolutionary advancement in the
automotive industry, facilitating seamless communication between
vehicles, infrastructure, pedestrians, and networks. By enabling real-
time exchange of critical data, such as location, speed, and
intentions, V2X holds the potential to greatly enhance road safety,
improve traffic efficiency, and pave the way for innovative
transportation solutions.
