Critique

• a French word that means "a critical


assessment" (positive, negative, or a mixture
of both).
• Some common types of critique include film
reviews in the popular press or book reviews
in journals.
• Critiques may have various structures, but the
simplest is a short summary followed by an
evaluation (Swales & Feak, 2012).
Task Directions
Terminal Outcome: Write a 3-5 double-spaced
article critique.
The following criteria must be included:
> summarize the article
> critically analyze the author’s main point
with regard to design, participants, setting,
validity, and reliability
> make your own recommendations to
improve the article

Besides the preceding requirements, your paper
will be graded on the following:
> adequate description of the topic
> the thoughtfulness of your analysis
> the expository clarity and coherence of your
paper.

• 5-7 pages [8. 5 x 11 page size]
• TNR, 12 font size
• Double-spacing, with 1 inch margin all sides
• 5-7 spaces indentation
• APA format
• Title page, text, reference page
• Pagination and running head
• 2-3 members per group
• Outline due: April 20 (Wednesday)
• Documented presentation: April 24 (Sunday)
