macronutrients and are
one of the three main
ways by which our
body obtains its
energy.
Providing energy and regulating blood glucose.
Carbohydrates are broken down into glucose, which is
used for respiration and fueling the body's processes.
Biological recognition processes. Carbohydrates are
involved in cell signaling and recognition, such as in the
immune system and blood types.

Functions of
Carbohydrates  Breakdown of fatty acids and preventing ketosis. Carbohydrates
help in the metabolism of lipids and avoid the accumulation of
ketone bodies, which can be harmful.
 Glucose that is not used for energy production is converted to
ribose and deoxyribose to make DNA and ATP
 Having enough glucose helps to prevent ketosis ( Ketosis is a
metablic state in which fat provided most of the fuel for the body
