 Poetry is one of the first type of
literature presented for kids, it
includes: Poems, Nursery rhymes
and Lullabies.
 Poetry passed through oral
tradition in the form of songs and
folklore.
Written poetry first began in 15th
century, mostly religious to provide
moral instructions.
Importance of Poetry

It is proved to be an invaluable
educational tool, helping children
develop their memory, vocabulary,
creativity, values, and awareness.
Nursery rhymes
Also called Mother Goose
rhymes, is a traditional poem or song
for children.
From the mid-16th century
nursery rhymes begin to be recorded
in English plays, and most popular
rhymes date from the 17th and 18th
centuries.
