Blessed Day

Grade 8!
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
1. Use 2-column proof to prove triangles
are congruent to its corresponding parts.
2. Apply a postulates and definitions of
midpoint, and bisector of a line segment
and angle.
Review:
Line Segment
• In geometry, a line segment is a part of a
straight line that is bounded by two distinct
end points, and contains every point on the
line that is between its endpoints.
Ray line
• it is a part of a line that has a fixed starting
point but no endpoint. It can extend
infinitely in one direction. Since a ray has no
end point, we can’t measure its length. We
need two rays to form an angle.
Perpendicular line
• are formed when two lines meet
each other at the right angle or 90
degrees. This property of lines is
said to be perpendicularity.

Adjacent Angle
• are the angles that have a
common arm (side) and a
common vertex,
however, they do not
overlap.
Vertical angles are always congruent
• Vertical angles share the same vertex
but cannot share the same side. If
they shared the same side, they
would be adjacent angles, and by
definition cannot be vertical angles.
Vertical angles are always congruent
Example:
All right angles are
congruent
• All right angles are
congruent,
meaning that they
have the same
measure of 90
degrees.
